Things I think to be true in teaching and learning

  • I believe we are learners all the time.
  • I believe learning is fun.
  • I believe in multiple learning needs, preferences and styles [1], [2], [3], [4]
  • I believe teaching is helping other people learn
  • I believe education is evolving and we need new models [5], [6]
  • I believe there is a lot of value in all learning theories [7]
  • I believe there are 2 main categories in learning: Abstract Knowledge Concepts and Concrete Practical Skills
Today, I think all this to be true, and as a lifelong learner I may correct myself tomorrow. I will continue exploring and validating this core principles...

I love teaching and learning

I have a passion for teaching and learning since high school. I always was fascinated about how people learn and how people teach. Here, I will share some of the tips and tricks I learned in the last 25 years...

I will try to balance the things I think to be true (believe), the things I imagine (Dream), the things I do (behavior) and the things I like (preference) and use color codes for thinking modes. I will use Blue for analytic and logical thinking, yellow for creative and innovative thinking, green for sequential and organized thinking and red for emotional and relational thinking. I learn this from and amazing Book called The Whole Brain Business Book and attending the Whole Brain Certification Program at Sydney, Australia.

You will see a lot of "Color" references in this blog following the model of Ned Herrmann. I will start with 4 posts about teaching and learning:
  1. Things I think to be true in teaching and learning
  2. Things I hope will be true in teaching and learning
  3. Things I do in teaching and learning
  4. Things I like in teaching and learning
Hope you enjoy this journey with me...
